Ellsworth made a good showing at the All State Maine Wrestling tournament at the Bangor Auditorium on February 8th and the 9th. Three of the six wrestlers to enter the tournament placed in the top 3. Matt Burns (Sophomore) at 125lbs got 2nd place. Jim Strout (Senior) got 3rd place and Brian Cobb (Junior) also got 2nd place. Trever Sweeney at 160lbs who went as an alternate also go to wrestle. I apologize for the lack of updates as things have been quite busy lately.

10of the Eagle wrestlers competed in this last weekends P.V.C.'s and 7 Eagles finished in the top 4. Brad Wing at 103lbs pinned Brandon Argaves (Caribou) in 4:19 for 3rd place. Jay Desmond, 112lbs, finished 4th. Tom Burns at 119lbs also finished 4th. Matt Burns, 125lbs, decisioned Andy Galipeau (J.Bapst) 9-5 for the PVC Championship. Jake Sinclair 135lbs finished 4th. Jim Strout at 145lbs lost a tough match to finish 2nd and Brian Cobb at 152lbs finished 4th. Other wrestlers who participated were Scott Strout (140), Trever Sweeney (160) and Aaron Will (189).

Ellsworth entered 8 wrestlers into this weekends Noble Tournament and came out with 3 finishers. Matt Burns at 125lbs finished 4th, Jim Strout wrestling at 145lbs finished 3rd and finally Brian Cobb at 152lbs finished with a 4th place finish also. Other Eagle participant's were Brad Wing (103), Jay Desmond (112), Tom Burns (119), Scott Strout (140) and Aaron Will (189). The team has started off the season to a fairly good start at the GSA Exibition Tournament on Saturday, December 1st. We had two 1st place winners, Matt Burns (130) and Trevor Stanley (275) a 2nd place win, Brian Cobb (152) and finally a 3rd place from one of our new wrestlers Jake Sinclair (135). All wrestlers did an outstanding job.
